The Adventures of Tintin

Today I saw The Adventures of TINTIN ....

I was waiting for this movie since the time I hard of it. I was so excited to see it. The movie was indeed good, awesome graphics, 3D and representation of the characters... But the story made me soo upset... the main adventures in the see was missing. I know that its not possible to put everything from the book to the movie but changing it that much and removing most important parts of adventure is not acceptable. Also the mystery gets solve within a bang after taking three papers. Which was actually happened at the mid point of the story was shown at the end of it and the main adventure of the 2nd half was vanished.

I don't know what other people thinks about it, but I believe when a story is so popular like Tintin and you are going to do a movie on it, you should follow at-least 80% of that story. Specially you should not cut the most  important adventure of that story. You may convey it in a different way but it should be there. The journey through the ocean in a search of Unicorn Ship deserves a place in that Movie.

I had expected much better from Mr. Spielberg.

The sleepless night

This is the third time I am starting to write my blog. I don't know how long I can keep it up. But I think I need to share some of my thoughts with you guys. Of-course these things may not be interesting to you or you will find these bunch of words helpful to your life, but I realized that it will certainly help me a lot.

Well It isn't kind of pretty common morning to me. I came back from lab at 2 am last night (or you can say tonight). My eyes were thirsty for sleep. I entered my room. I was feelings very happy to see my bed waiting for me. I simply jumped on it and closed my eyes. But to my surprise I couldn't able to sleep. I don't know what happened, but all kind of thoughts started to come to my mind. I thought about my uncertain R&D project work. I thought about my Graphics work etc. And I found that I am really messing all things up. I am doing everything but nothing is going perfect. Well except the embedded project. It didn't upset me up till now (don't know what will happen next to it). I know that I have to do something fruitful out of my R&D work within this month, but seriously I don’t what to do for that. Also I am stuck with my graphics. I tried every kind of modification possible to my work but still it doesn't giving me the output. I am currently really confused how can I end this semester up. I need some plan. I am awake the whole night. I couldn't able to sleep. I think I should fix small targets. Lets see what can I do.

Its WOrld Cup Time. : Brazil 2 - 1 DPR Korea

Finally my B-Tech Final Semester exams are over. Now its time to be mad for the Fifa World Cup 2010.
I had waited for a long 4 years to feel this heat. Yesterday was the 1st match of my favorite team BRAZIL. :)
I watched that game wearing the BRAZIL jersey brought in 2002 (at the time of the world cup ). I always like to watch the artistic football of Brazil. Well though I didn't find the fire in Brazil team which I was expecting, still there was a fine touch of art and professionalism. Brazil had to fight hard to get a 2 - 1 victory over DPR Korea in the last night. But I must say the 1st goal Brazil came from the leg of Maicon is the best goal of 2010 till now.
But the performance of KAKA and Fabiano was highly disappointing. Anyway its professional football, I hope they will revel there best performance in  the vital time. All the best Brazil.

Kolkata Bookfair 2010

Well, it has been a long time I wrote anything to this blog. Due to several reasons for some times I couldn't write anything , but ... here I am, again with the world around me.

Today is one of those days when I get enough time to sleep in the morning (I love to sleep in the morning rather that at night... :P ) . So now I have quite fresh mind to write something about the 34th Kolkata Book Fair (2010).

Yesterday Dipanjan , Anirban and I went to the Kolkata Book Fair.  I left my home at around 2 pm to catch a Belurmath-Garia bus from Ballyghat. Dipanjan was supposed to board that bus from Belurmath . I reached Ballyghat , a bit later than I had aimed. So I thought the bus had already left.  But when I called  up Dipanjan on cellular phone, he  told me that the Bus was still sleeping in the bus-stop. What to do?  Suddenly I noticed an empty slab under a tree beside the bus-stand. I sat there and started playing games on my mobile phone. After about 35 minutes the bus came (at last) and we (dipanjan and I ) headed for the Book Fair. We were supposed to meet Anirban at Ultadanga at around 3 pm. But we were late by about 55 minutes to reach Ultadanga. Anirban boarded the Bus. He had a face apparently about to burst into a storm and handed his bag to me. Before telling  anything he slipped into the crowd at the other end of the bus. Well he was rightful to be angry as he had to wait for almost an hour. Luckily the anger was discharged at some other guy in the bus on the way to reach us.

Finally at around 4:15 pm we reached the Book Fair. Here we had an  experience new to  Bookfair. There was no long queue in the ticket counter but we had to stand we had to stand at the tail of a long queue at the Entrance. The Book Fair was not as crowed as expected. But it was an advantage as I could search for the books easily. I bought "The Rockingdown Mystery" by Enid Blyton and "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells. Then we faced another unexpected incident at the Book Fair. Power cut at the bookfair - as it was. We were at the Deb Sahitya Kuthir stall then. All the stalls suddenly sunk into a Dark Sea. We ran out of the stall. Luckily the street lights of the Book Fair had some power backup. But this power failure led to chaos and commotion in the fair premises.
This load shedding lasted for about 40 minutes and almost all the big stalls downed their shutters at that time.

As we had nothing to do at that time, we searched for some food at the food park. But, like us, many people had gathered at that place, so we hardly found any place to stand in the food park. Then I bought an ice cream and Anirban bought a packet of Hajibaji Chanachur (lol... ya its the name of the brand) . Soon we left that place.

Apart from the chaos we had a very good time at the Book Fair. That is all for today. A chocolate is waiting for me at the dining table... :D ... cya.

The training was held in the WBSUB, which was found 5 to 6 months ago. So there was no proper lab setup. Only brand new PCs were there. On the first Day, Dipanjan Ravi and I worked on the lab to install Fedora 9 on 16 PCs. During that time Susmit da went to Chandni Chowk to collect Wireless Router, CAT5 cable, RJ-45 jacks and other tools to setup a WiFi connection in the university. During that time Indranil Da took an introductory session on GNU/LINUX environment. After that session Susmit Da and Indra Da took a session on the Installation process of Fedora 9 and the basic features of Fedora.

On The Second Day Dipanjan, Ravi and I took a whole day session on the use of OpenOffice.org. It was a long lecture session and at the end of that session, the Students attended a practical session and solved the assignments given by us. First I took a session on Openoffice.org Writer and the common parts of all open office packages. Then Ravi took a session on OpenOffice.org Impress and last but not the least Dipanjan took a session on OpenOffice.org Calc and Mailmerge.

The third day session was on using the Internet and E-Mailing. I, at first, took the session on Emailing, Indra Da helped me to make my points clearer to the students. And then he took the session on Internet browsing. Overall the workshop was really Successful.

At the End of the program Prof. Kamalesh Bhaumik ,Registrar of the University, distributed the certificates and the Vice Chancellor - Prof Thakur addressed the closing session.
